On the course,
Although the temperatures remain up on the norm, Winter is on its way. We have had the first couple of light frosts and some heavy rain to deal with, but on the whole the course has stood up reasonably well. We have undertaken regular greens maintenance over the last few weeks and we are very grateful for your understanding whilst we carry out these essential practices.
Recovery has been slightly slower than we had hoped. The new growth from the overseeding is there for everyone to see and this will provide us with better and more sustainable surfaces over the coming months and years. The greens will settle again over the coming weeks and as the new shoots start to mature, they will harden and become easier to get a smoother cut and putting surface.
Our deputy course manager, Martin, has taken up a new role as Head Green keeper in North Cornwall and we are delighted that James has grasped the opportunity to step into his shoes. We will shortly be joined by Tom in a new position as first Assistant. We are excited that he will add his expertise to the team and will be made very welcome.
As we start to look to the winter, we have identified a number of projects that we intend to complete over the coming 6 months. Below is a list that is not exhaustive, but gives an idea of where we will be concentrating our efforts.
Raise and level all greenside irrigation heads- Approx. 40.
Raise, level and repair any broken irrigation valve boxes and fairway isolation valves.

There is plenty to do and we look forward to seeing you on the course,
Thank you and good golfing,
Members Forum Updates
Over the last few weeks, we have held members open forums which have been attended by a number of our members. The purpose of these meetings was to give some background to what the owner’s thoughts are for the future in addition to finding out what sort of club you, the members, want to be part of.
This has to start with us being honest. We have not always delivered the club or results any of us want or deserve but our aim is to change that. Open Forums and talking with each other provide a starting point to learn from the past but clearly look to the future to ensure that we deliver the club we all want.
There has been some excellent feedback and questions raised, which we are working on and considering for inclusion in our long term plans. Our intention is to run several more events so that a wider cross section of the membership have the opportunity to air their views and offer some constructive feedback. Further dates will announced shortly but please remember the office door is always open.
We are also looking for more volunteers. A number of members have volunteered already to help with matches, competitions, handicaps and open days but many hands make light work! We are always looking for more helpers that can run the events on the day, but these do not need to be thankless tasks. The club management are here to support all the clubs activities and will support our volunteers every step of the way. Please let Matt know if you are willing to help in any way.
